The new web site: www.weddingsbyrob.com is working out really well and continues to grow. There are plenty of new images from recent shoots and, of course, more photographs will appear as this wedding season gets into full swing.
Rob Domaschuk Photography is excited and proud to announce a partnership with Timeless Day Spa and Ella Grace Cosmetics to bring you an intimate portrait package. This is the perfect gift for your fiance or spouse - a day of spa services followed by a photo shoot (in your home or in the studio) with a professional make up artist.
Blog Article…
It’s happened too many times.
You hired an inexperienced photographer off that guy’s web list (Craig, I think his name is), thinking you got a great deal (famous last words, right?). Two weeks after your wedding, you’re in tears over your $500 set of snapshots that look as though they were taken by Uncle Joe after he downed a few drinks.
Don’t feel bad; in this digital age, anyone can buy a digital camera for a few hundred dollars, place a free ad, and call themselves a wedding photographer. As long as they can talk a good game, they often get hired. Probably even told you that there was no point spending more than $500 on your pictures.
We all know the adage (in one of its many forms): ‘you get what you pay for’, ‘the bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the joy of low cost is remembered’, blah, blah, blah. But now that you’re living it, you really don’t want to be reminded of it, right?
Fortunately, all is not lost. It is possible to re-shoot a lot of your wedding photos. Not all of them, of course, but you’d be pleasantly surprised by how much can be recreated. In fact, with a few weeks notice, you can probably re-shoot virtually everything but the candids. If you were married in a church (or synagogue, mosque, temple, etc.) and you know the person who officiated, you can probably find an open hour to get back in and re-stage the vows. Same goes for the banquet facilities. Did you keep the top layer of your wedding cake? Great, we can get a shot of you cutting it, too.
The point is, there is a lot that can be re-captured. Once you and your spouse put your tux and dress back on, return to where you were married and had the reception, the joyful memories will quickly come back and you’ll have no problem smiling and laughing; just like you did the day of your wedding.
I’ll warn you right now, though, that it won’t necessarily be cheap but that’s okay. After all, it was going with the cheap alternative that brought you to this point. Typical costs will be re-renting the tuxedo, having the dress dry cleaned, and perhaps a small donation/honorarium to the wedding venue and banquet facility. You should check to see if the wedding party is available, too. They stood up for you once and, unless any were from out of town, they’ll stand up again.
So, if you are one of those folks who got sweet-talked into hiring a bad photographer and you don’t want those snapshots to be the only photographic memory of your wedding day, you can relax.
Call me and let’s re-shoot your wedding.
