Why Can’t I Relax?

Here I am on Day 2 of a 10 day vacation. That’s right, now that the wedding season is starting to wind down and weddings are also being pushed further and further into the Fall & Winter, I took off with the family to Ludington Michigan for 10 days.

Relaxation and rejuvenation. So why am I sitting in the library, writing a blog entry? Well, in part, because I enjoy doing this and I certainly want to stay connected with all of you. I love what I do and the idea of being completely unplugged for 10 days doesn’t really sound appealing, either.

But, just as the discovery of Starbucks up the road brought a smile to my face, the little icon in the lower right that read “Wireless network connected” brought a sense of calm and relief. A joyful find was entering our little cabin and finding that they had satellite tv. After an evening of “Ice Road Truckers” and a couple of beers last night, we woke up this morning and headed over to the library to login and connect. (odd side note – the Starbucks here is about the only place that doesn’t have Wi-fi – seriously!!).

Anyway, this whole thing about having to learn to relax on vacation got me thinking about our honeymoon. Rachel and I are now past the ‘two months left’ mark before our big day and talking about honeymoon plans. Am I going to be able to relax? Will I need another few days at the start to wind down? Will I still be in relax-mode then?

Time will tell but, if I need some time to unwind before I can enjoy the honeymoon, at least I’ll be ready.

BTW, this is a beautiful place and I’ve rediscovered the joy of shooting landscapes. Watch this blog in the coming two weeks for, what I hope will be, some beautiful pictures.

Cheers.
