I had never thought about the impact good (or bad) cake can have on a wedding reception. You cna always tell the experience that your guests have previously had by watching their faces when you announce that you are coming around with the cake. Some people will shrink into their chairs, the look on their faces one of sheer, abject terror. Those are the people that have been given last year’s Christmas fruit cake with greasy icing at past weddings. Then there are those that roll their eyes with a sense of bored expectation. They’re the ones who have had cake baked by “good old Aunty Betsy” who took that baking class 20 years ago and considers herself on par with professional bakers and does the wedding cake for $20. Then there… well, you get the point by now.
