Well, by now all of you are aware that we’re in this recession and money is tight, jobs scarce, threat of lay-offs loom (if you’ve not been laid off yet) and more.
Seems like you can’t turn on the tv without hearing more bad news: the auto industry is on the verge of collapse, AIG is well… we won’t go there.
What about weddings? Even as we’re starting to get some good news trickling into our lives, weddings seem to be a stable part of our economy. I was trying to tihnk of reasons why this may be the case.
Disclaimer: I am not a financial expert – just ask my wife – nor do I play one on tv.
I like to think that our hopes and dreams for the future are strong enough to break through a short term problem in our economy. Love prevails, love is strong, and love brings us the joy and hope we search for. So why shouldn’t the start of a marriage be the catalyst for new and happy times in our lives?
I’m blessed to be involved with several weddings already this year. While each one is markedly different from the next, they all have this underlying promise of joy. Each couple shares this common bond and it is a real honor to be a part of it.
So, for all of you who are getting married (even those who may not know it yet), 2009 will be a significant year in your lives. Live it to the fullest, enjoy it like there is no tomorrow, and let that light shine.
See you at the wedding,
Rob
